NEW BALLOTS READY FOR
NOVEMBER
Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff announced today
absentee ballots are available for eligible voters in Greene County who are
unable to go to their regular polling place on November 8th. “This will be the first countywide election
conducted on our new precinct-based optical scan voting system,” Struckhoff
said. “All registered voters in the
County can participate in this election.”
The Greene County Commission is asking voters for a quarter-cent
increase in its sales tax for childhood development programs and law
enforcement. A portion of the sales
tax—one-eighth of a cent—will sunset after five years.
Absentee ballots may be voted in the Clerk’s office on
the first floor of the Greene County Courthouse (Room 113), 940 Boonville,
between 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, until 5:00 p.m. on the
day before the election. Missouri law
limits the use of absentee ballots to voters who will be out of the county on
election day, or who are ill or incapacitated, or for other legal reasons.
Homebound or out-of-town voters may request an
absentee ballot by mail. These requests
must be signed by the voters and received in the clerk’s office no later than
5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the election—November 2nd. Mailed ballots must be voted, notarized,
returned by mail, and received in the clerk’s office before 7:00 p.m. on
election day. Questions about absentee
voting should be directed to Struckhoff’s office at 868-4055.
